Trivia: During the 17th and 18th Centuries, curly coated dogs (water dogs and herding dogs) were commonly referred to as poodles.

The exceptionally intelligent Poodle with ancestral ties to the Barbet and to corded herding dogs hails from Germany. The name, Poodle is translated from the German word: pudelin which means splash in water.
Mavis Peavy, a well-known Quarter Horse breeder used two Standard Poodles, Henry and Pudley to work Herefords on her cattle ranch near Keota Colorado.
